A fuel cell is a new power generation system that produces electricity from hydrogen and oxygen. Fuel cells are clean and energy-efficient. In space shuttles, fuel cells provide electricity for experiments and life aboard the shuttle, as well as producing drinking water. Now, research and development is underway to commercialize fuel cell cars, residential fuel cells, and various other products and applications.
