This remarkable biotechnology, which seeks to blaze new trails in individualized medical care, enables advanced, low-cost diagnosis. |

| Ultrasound Diagnostic System |
 |
An Ultrasound Diagnostic System sends high-frequency sound waves into the human
body, captures the reflected waves, and creates an
image from the resulting data. It represents a safe
diagnostic system, since ultrasound waves are harmless
to the human body. Current ultrasound systems are available
in compact, lightweight designs, and have become an
essential tool in modern medicine. The movie will show
ultrasound images of a beating heart, a liver, a kidney,
a carotid artery, and a fetus in the mother's womb. |
| Magnetic Resonance Imaging System(MRI) |
 |
A magnetic resonance
imaging (MRI) system acquires information on
the human body with magnetic fields and radio waves,
creating
an image from the resulting information. Toshiba has
developed a remarkably quiet MRI (Pianissimo) that
generates 90% less noise than conventional systems.
It is the first of its kind anywhere in the world.
The movie will show how data is acquired based on the
orientation of hydrogen atomic nuclei after exposure
to a strong magnetic field, and show some of the differences
between conventional and state-of-the-art MRI. |
| High-Speed
Helical CT |
 |
High-speed helical
CT diagnostic technology provides a three-dimensional
image of the interior of the human body after an X-ray
beam device has wound a spiral path around the body.
The first of its kind anywhere in the world, Toshiba's
helical CT technology allows examination of even aneurisms
or very thin blood vessels in the lungs. Toshiba pursues
medical technology that benefits people; this technology
enables early detection and early treatment of various
diseases. The movie shows the image of the interior
of a human body captured by a high-speed helical CT
scanner to enable fast, accurate diagnoses. |
| DNA
Chip |
 |
Toshiba has developed
a current-detection DNA chip that identifies genes
rapidly, easily, and accurately. This new technology
will help support genomic medicine, which relies on
genetic information obtained from patients to formulate
diagnoses and devise treatments. The movie presents
the current-detection DNA chip and a special DNA chip
that targets hepatitis C. |
